The Epitome or Black History

The Epitome of Black History is a bold, sacred, and unapologetically Black storytelling series that unearths the untold, erased, and overlooked narratives of Black culture, Black survival, and Black Excellence. Each year, our team curates a 7-session immersive journey designed to invite you into a deeper understanding of history that has been hidden in plain sight. These stories demand recognition, stir the soul, and powerfully connect our past to the present. In this intentional and reverent space, we honor our ancestors—those who transformed pain into progress, silence into truth-telling, and struggle into a shared, unbreakable power.

The series is structured in three powerful parts:

• Hidden Stories — These sessions uncover the narratives that have been deliberately buried or forgotten. We intentionally pull from the margins, telling the stories society has tried to vault away.

• Colorado Edition — These sessions ground us in the richness of Black history right here in our own backyard. From every corner, we lift the powerful legacies that shaped this state and continue to shape us.

​

• History in the Making — We close the series with a dynamic panel featuring individuals who are actively making history in real time. These voices compel us to ask: How are we showing up for those in our community who are brave enough to become history?

This work is both an education and a calling. It reminds us of those who came before us—who trailblazed our paths, held the line, and made it possible for us to continue the pursuit of our collective liberation. Each year, we gather in sacred spaces across our cities to speak names, reclaim truths, and reflect deeply on the legacies that shape who we are and who we must become.

To preserve the intimacy and integrity of this experience, we intentionally limit each cohort to just 12 participants. This ensures an environment of genuine engagement, honest reflection, and meaningful relationship-building. While we strive to keep costs low and offer scholarships when possible, there is a fee to participate—one that reflects our commitment to honoring the labor, brilliance, and time of the storytellers, facilitators, and organizers who make this experience possible. The cost is $25/session, a total of $175 for the series.
